How to build a preventive maintenance schedule
- List your critical assets. Start with equipment whose failure stops production or creates a safety risk.
- Set tasks and frequencies. Use the OEM manual first, then adjust using your own failure history.
- Estimate labour hours. Multiply each task's time by how often it occurs, to see the monthly workload.
- Balance the calendar. Spread heavy annual and half-yearly jobs across planned shutdowns and quieter months.
- Track compliance. Record each PM as done, late or missed, and review PM compliance weekly.

From a spreadsheet to a system
A spreadsheet schedule works until PMs start slipping on busy weeks. PlantOps360 schedules PMs by time, usage or meter reading, sends work orders to technicians' phones, and tracks PM compliance and MTBF in real time.
